E-Invoice and E-Archive Invoice in Turkey: What Is the Difference?

A practical overview of Turkey's e-Fatura and e-Arşiv Fatura systems, their recipient-based distinction and shared digital process.

Finance professional comparing digital invoice records in Turkey

In Turkey, e-Fatura and e-Arşiv Fatura are both electronic invoice formats within the Revenue Administration's digital framework. The central distinction generally depends on whether the recipient is registered in the e-Fatura system.

What is e-Fatura?

E-Fatura is exchanged electronically between parties registered in the e-Fatura system. The invoice follows the technical and procedural rules defined for that system rather than being delivered as a conventional paper invoice.

What is e-Arşiv Fatura?

E-Arşiv Fatura is generally used when the recipient is not registered for e-Fatura. It is still created and retained electronically, while delivery to the recipient follows the applicable digital or printed process.

The core difference is the recipient

A business should not choose the document type by visual preference. The recipient's registration status and current rules determine the appropriate flow.

What both formats have in common

Both require accurate customer, tax, line-item and total information; secure record handling; and compliance with the current technical rules of the Turkish Revenue Administration.

Always verify current obligations

Thresholds, mandatory transition rules and technical guidance can change. Businesses should confirm current requirements through the Turkish Revenue Administration or an authorised financial adviser before acting.
